We believe that consuming nutritious foods, maintaining proper proportions of caloric consumption, and using of high quality supplements are vital components to our program. MOVEMENT
A sedentary lifestyle does not benefit weight loss. At MetaMorphosis MD, we believe in the importance of strengthening and moving the muscles of the body as part of an emotional and physical enhancement to weight loss lifestyle. Patients often procrastinate when it comes to incorporating even the most minimal exercise regimen into their day. Alternatively, some individuals practice the same old routine each week and becomes frustrated with lack of results. Our practitioners will review your current lifestyle and exercise plan, and provide feedback for improvement. We understand, refer, and work with individuals who have physical limitation and disability. Movement is an enhancement to weight loss and maintenance, though balance of caloric intake plays the largest role.

MOOD
We realize that weight issues are often not about the food itself. Mood disorders can provoke “mindless eating” and increase stress levels, which in turn promote weight gain. Medications taken for behavioral and emotional disorders may also promote weight gain or hinder weight loss. We often encounter individuals who need or desire emotional support during their weight loss journey. Our practitioners take mood into consideration when formulating your lifestyle plan.

MANAGING SLEEP
Sleep is often underrated as a critical aspect of weight loss. Several studies over the years have touted the benefits of anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep nightly. Even those who eat less- but sleep less- gain more weight. Adequate sleep allows the body’s stress hormones (the ones that make us gain weight) to come to very low levels, which is restorative and allows weight loss and maintenance. Sleep requirements often decrease with age, though quality sleep remains important. We work to review and help you improve your quality of rest.

MENOPAUSE
At MetaMorphosis MD, our practitioners are versed in the impact of perimenopause and menopause on the metabolic system of women. Decreases in estrogen during mid-life result in a decreased metabolism, but also adversely affect the M’s of mood and management of sleep. We can work with you to learn how to eat differently during this period of metabolic change, and guide you towards additional resources as needed to make you feel better overall.

MEDICATION
Our involvement with medication is two-fold. We review any medications you may be taking that may possibly affect your weight loss. We also believe that the proper use of weight loss medications and natural supplements for many of our clients can serve as valuable TOOLS to train your brain to learn new eating and lifestyle habits. Some medications have been shown to decrease cravings, like Contrave or our stimulants like Endotrim. Others have additional metabolic weight loss benefit for people with particular body types and health conditions, such as GLP-1 and GIP medications like Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Trulicity, Saxenda, and Victoza. We will review if medications are appropriate based on a variety of factors, including your insurance coverage, to find a tool for you.
